Wynne Evans is regularly singing to millions for the TV advertising campaign that has made him a household name in the role of his alter ego, the spoof opera star Gio Compario. In March 2011, Wynne released his debut album A Song In My Heart with Warner Music, which went to the Number 1 in the classical charts. He presents his own radio show for BBC Radio Wales, programmes for S4C and he presented a BBC2 TV programme on the National Eisteddfod and was honoured by the Eisteddfod with the title of Gorsedd of the Bards. He sang the role of PIANGI in the 25 year anniversary performance of The Phantom of the Opera, which was broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas worldwide and has been released on DVD. Over Christmas 2012, Wynne presented Wynne Evans’ Guide to Opera on Classic FM.

Born in South Wales, Wynne studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio in London. He was a principal tenor with Welsh National Opera and has appeared throughout the UK, with highlights including PRUNIER La Rondine and FENTON Falstaff Opera North, ALFREDO and CAVARADOSSI Tosca English National Opera and TAMINO and THE ITALIAN TENOR Der Rosenkavalier Scottish Opera. Other appearances have included FRACASSO La Finta Semplice Classical Opera Company, FORESTO Attila and ARVINO I Lombardi Chelsea Opera Group, ALFREDO Opera Northern Ireland, NEMORINO Glyndebourne Festival, HARRY La Fanciulla del West Grange Park Opera and Param Vir’s Broken Strings Almeida Opera.
