Kari Hamnoy Mezzo Soprano
The Norwegian dramatic mezzo Kari Hamnoy has been a member of the Royal Danish Opera Copenhagen for the past ten years. Since 2001 Miss Hamnoy has also been a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin . She made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as ANNINA in Der Rosenkavalier under Sir Charles Mackerras and returned to the Royal Danish Opera for performances of SUZUKI in Madama Butterfly and CLARISSA in The Love for Three Oranges .

She has built up a large repertoire of roles including AMNERIS, EBOLI, ULRICA, SUZUKI, ANNINA, MARY Der fliegende Holländer, MARCELLINA Le nozze di Figaro, MERE MARIE Les Dialogues des Carmelites and MAGDELONE in Nielsen’s Maskerade.
Guest engagements during this time have included DORABELLA Cosi fan tutte, SUZUKI Madama Butterfly and AMNERIS Aida at the Norwegian State Opera, WALTRAUTE Die Walküre for Den Jyrske Opera Aarhus and MEG PAGE Falstaff for Opera Ireland.
Since the season 2001, Miss Hamnøy has been a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin where her roles include FILIPYEVNA Eugene Onegin, 1. NORN Götterdämmerung, ANNINA Der Rosenkavalier, DRITTE DAME Die Zauberfloete, LA CIECA La Gioconda and ULRICA Un Ballo in Maschera.
She returned to the Royal Danish Opera for roles in The Handmaid’s Tale, SUZUKI Madama Butterfly and CLARISSA The Love for Three Oranges and made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as ANNINA Der Rosenkavalier under Sir Charles Mackerras and as MAGDELONE in Nielsen’s Maskerade.
