Highlights of Cécile van de Sant’s most
recent successes have included the title-role in Gluck’s Alceste in the UK, Frank Martin’s Der Cornet with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester and Conti’s David with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging in Holland. Forthcoming appearances include DIANA Iphigenie en Tauride at the Liceu Barcelona, while her concert schedule includes STIMME AUS DER HÖHE Parsifal for the Zaterdag Matinee at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Residentieorkest in Den Haag and Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the Holland Symfonia in 2011. In 2010 she will sing the roles of 3te Dame Die Zauberflöte and SORCERESS Dido and Aeneas for Opéra de Lausanne (a role she recently covered at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden).

At the forefront of a new generation of European singers, highlights of Cécile van de Sant’s most
recent successes have included a long-awaited debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as DIANA Iphigénie en Tauride, as well as a critically-acclaimed CORNELIA Giulio Cesare for the Göttingen Handel Festival, recorded live for CD. Future engagements already confirmed include Sorceress and 3te DAME Zauberflöte for Opéra de Lausanne in 2010. Her concert special-guest appearances include the VARA Zaterdag Matinée and Residentie Orkest in The Netherlands, and she returns this month to cover DIDO Dido and Aeneas for Covent Garden in 2009.

Her international appearances have included Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and at Teatro Liceu in Barcelona, CYRUS in Handel’s Belshazzar’s Feast with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra San Francisco, Gluck's ORFEO for Scottish Opera, SESTO La Clemenza di Tito with the Orquestra Simfňnica de Baleares, and 3RD FLOWER MAIDEN & 2ND KNAPPE Parsifal with l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo.

Other recent highlights have included Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Handel's Messiah with Het Brabants Orkest and Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Born in the Netherlands, she studied on both sides of the Atlantic, gaining international recognition as a prize-winner at both the Concours de Chant de Toulouse, and Hans Gabor Belvedere Wettbewerb in Vienna.

A renowned and consummate recitalist and concert artist, recent engagements have included THE ANGEL in Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with RTE, Bach's Matthaus Passion conducted by John Nelson and Weihnachtsoratorium with the Combattimento Consort conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend. In addition, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony conducted by Marc Soustrot, and the Dutch premiere of Deus Passus by Rihm with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marcus Stenz, are considered particular highlights. Her growing discography currently includes the role of SESTO La Clemenza di Tito and the role of FARNACE Mitridate - both for Brilliant Classics – and judged as remarkable performances by both critics and public alike.
