Born in Missouri, Kevin studied at the Eastman School of Music and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, before winning the Prix d’Association pour le Rayonnement at the Opéra National de Paris, Bastille. He went on to sing the role of TARQUINIUS The Rape of Lucretia at the Britten-Pears School at Aldeburgh, and replaced, at short notice, an indisposed cover for the roles of PELLÉAS Pelléas et Mélisande and HARLEQUIN Ariadne auf Naxos at the Metropolitan Opera New York, which brought him to the attention of an international public.
Other highly-successful credits have included KULIGIN Katja Kabanova for the Opéra National de Paris, NED KEENE Peter Grimes for Opéra National de Montpellier, the title roles on both Don Giovanni and Eugene Onegin for Theater Dortmund, MARCELLO La Bohème, DANDINI La Cenerentola with the Opera Faber Festival, Portugal, RAMIRO L’Heure Espagnole with the Chorégies d’Orange and DANCAIRO Carmen with the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. In addition he sang the role of MERCUTIO Romeo et Juliette for The Spoleto Festival, Charleston (USA) conducted by Emmanuel Villaume, GUGLIELMO Così fan tutte for the Festival de Sédières in France, ORESTE Iphigenie en Tauride for Opéra de Nancy and the Komische Oper Berlin, and MORALES in Bizet’s Carmen both for Ongaku-Juku Opera, Japan, with Seiji Ozawa, as well as the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Georges Prêtre.
More recent projects in the UK have included Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, while his already impressive discography includes JUAN in Massenet’s Don Quichotte, conducted by James Conlon for Mezzo TV productions in France.
On the concert platform, he has sung Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Edinburgh Festival, the Snape Proms, and at the Salle Pleyel de Paris, while other concert appearances have included the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut, and performances with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
