Gregory Frank Bass

With a vocality and timbre that has brought him recognition as one of the finest all-round basses in the current operatic arena, Gregory Frank’s most recent successes have included HEINRICH Lohengrin for Oper Frankfurt, where as a member of the ensemble his many appearances this Season included ROCCO Fidelio and IL GRAND INQUISITORE Don Carlos, while other notable successes have included DALAND Der Fliegender Holländer for Grange Park Opera in 2008. A busy future guesting schedule includes FAFNER and HUNDING for De Nationale Reisopera, VODNIK Rusalka for the Finnish National Opera and OSMIN for the Volksoper Wien.

A busy future schedule - following his decision to leave Frankfurt - includes FAFNER Siegfried for De Nationale Reisopera, VODNIK Rusalka for the Finnish National Opera and HUNDING for the Nationale Reisopera in Holland in 2010.
He began his professional career as a member of the Chicago Lyric Opera Center for American Artists, before moving to Europe and joining several ensembles including Dortmund and the Badische Staatstheater in Karlsruhe. In 2002 he was engaged as an ensemble member with the Frankfurt Opera and sang the roles of KARL in Fierrabras, KÖNIG Schatzgräber, HUNDING and KÖNIG MARKE (Tristan und Isolde). The following season he sang DALAND Der fliegende Holländer and for the Oper Graz, GURNEMANZ in their production of Parsifal. The 2004 season saw him performing the title role in Boito's MEFISTOFELE, IVAN CHOWANTSKI Khovanshchina and in a revival of KÖNIG MARKE in Frankfurt.
As a guest his appearances have included Opernhaus Zürich, La Monnaie, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München and the opera houses of Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Hannover, Bonn, Mannheim, Innsbruck, for Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Stadttheater Bern in Switzerland and with the Poznan Opera in Poland. Mr Frank has also appeared with various symphony orchestras including the Chicago Symphony and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. More recently he sang Khovanshchina, BANQUO in Verdi's Macbeth, COMMENDATORE Don Giovanni and KECAL The Bartered Bride at Frankfurt, a role he recently revived for Baltimore Opera. Other recent American triumphs have included OSMIN for Michigan Opera Theater.
