Scott comes from Scotland where he studied singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He enjoyed a freelance career as a singer in opera, oratorio and recital before joining Scottish Opera in 1987. He became Chorus Manager at Scottish Opera and he remained there until 1995 when he left to become a director of Pitch Perfect, a Glasgow-based event management company. He joined ASI in 1998.
