Winner of the prestigious 2019 Premio Abbiati prize, Giuseppe Palella moved into design after 10 years in the costume department at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma where he collaborated with important directors including Franco Zeffirelli, Luca Ronconi, Pierluigi Pizzi and Henning Brockhaus, Giuseppe Palella. His most recent collaboration was with director Fabio Ceresa on projects such as I Puritani Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Teatro Regio di Torino, Il Telefono, La scuola guida, Trouble in Tahiti Teatro Orfeo Taranto and Mascagni’s Guglielmo Ratcliff Wexford Festival Opera.

Other past engagements have included La Traviata, Samson et Dalila, Gianni Schicchi Coliseu do Porto, Il Corsaro, Gianni Schicchi, La Medium, Lucia di Lammermoor Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, Lucia di Lammermoor Teatro de la Maestranza, Don Pasquale Palazzo Zuckermann Padova, Chopin racconta Chopin, Teatro Costanzi Roma, The Snow Queen Teatro Puccini Firenze and The Wizard of Oz Teatro Carcano Milano.

Giuseppe supervised the costume department on Aida, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Un Balla in Maschera, Carmen, Romeo et Juliette and Medea Arena di Verona, Elektra Teatro alla Scala and on the TV series The Borgias. He studied sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, singing at the Conservatorio Giovan Battista Martini in Bologna, and acting and contemporary music at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence.
