Award winning director and designer Isabella Bywater’s recent and future engagements include The Turn of the Screw, Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs English National Opera, Suor Angelica, Il Tabarro/Gianni Schicchi Den Norske Opera Oslo, La Bohème Teatro de la Maestranza and San Diego Opera , Lucia di Lammermoor Den Jyske Opera and Faust Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg.
As a designer Isabella Bywater’s engagements include Don Pasquale Royal Ballet and Opera Covent Garden, La Scala di Milano, Teatro Comunale di Firenze, L’Elisir d’Amore, La Bohème English National Opera, Liceu Barcelona and New York City Opera, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Nabucco, La Clemenza di Tito Opernhaus Zürich, I Puritani Bayerische Staatsoper, La Traviata Mariinsky Theatre, Ezio Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Madama Butterfly Welsh National Opera, Falstaff, Der Rosenkavalier New National Opera Tokyo, and Eugene Onegin and Ermione Santa Fe Opera.
She was nominated for two Golden Mask Awards for best production design and best costume design, nominated for a Golden Sofit Award for best scenography and won the Golden Sofit Award for Best Opera Production of 2011 for A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Mariinsky Theatre.
