Georgian mezzosoprano Khatuna Mikaberidze’s current and recent engagements include Carmen (title role) Oper Leipzig, BRANGÄNE Tristan und Isolde Staatstheater Wiesbaden, ORTRUD Lohengrin Bolshoi, JUDITH Bluebeard’s Castle Wuppertaler Bühnen and AMNERIS Aida Staatstheater Braunschweig.

From 2006 she was a member of Staatsoper Hannover, where she sang roles such as VENUS Tannhäuser, EBOLI Don Carlo, Carmen (title role), DIANA La Calisto, FRICKA Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, WALTRAUTE Götterdämmerung, BRANGÄNE Tristan und Isolde, JEANNE in Penderecki’s The Devil of Loudun, and FRUGOLA Il Tabarro.

Past guest engagements have included Carmen (title role) Staatstheater Kassel, ORTRUD Lohengrin Landestheater Salzburg, EBOLI Norwegian Opera Oslo, AMNERIS Aida Theater Bremen, MADDALENA Rigoletto Staatsoper Hamburg, JEZIBABA Rusalka Theater Basel and MOTHER in Luigi Dallapiccola’s Il Prigioniero Volksoper Wien, and Oper Frankfurt. A keen interpreter of modern music, Khatuna sang in Luigi Nono´s Intoleranza 1960 Staatsoper Hannover which won the Faust Award for Best New Opera Production 2011.

From 2003 to 2006 Khatuna was in the ensemble of Landestheater Linz where roles included Carmen, JEZIBABA Rusalka, and ORLOFSKY Die Fledermaus. She made her German debut in 2001 as ACUZENA Il Trovatore Theater Dortmund and was a soloist at Theater Meiningen, where she sang DORABELLA Così fan tutte, JEZIBABA and BRANGÄNE.

Khatuna began her professional career as a soloist with the Batumi Opera and with the Tiflis Opera Georgia. She studied at the Tiflis Conservatory.
