American tenor Michael Porter is a member of the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt. Since joining the ensemble in the autumn of 2015, he has sung roles such as FERRANDO Cosí fan tutte, TAMINO Die Zauberflöte, DON OTTAVIO Don Giovanni, PEDRILLO Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and ARBACE Idomeneo. Other notable performances include STEUERMANN Der fliegende Holländer, ANDRES Wozzeck, LYSANDER A Midsummer Night’s Dream, THE NOVICE Billy Budd, BRIGHELLA Ariadne auf Naxos, EDMONDO Manon Lescaut and HELENUS/HYLAS Les Troyens. This season he will be singing DAVID Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, HYLLUS Hercules and TAMINO. Guest engagements in 24/25 include LYSANDER A Midsummer Night’s Dream Opéra de Lausanne.
Recent guest engagements have included FROH Das Rheingold Staatstoper Stuttgart, MONOSTATOS Die Zauberflöte Salzburger Festspiele, KNAPPE Parsifal Staatsoper Berlin, VICTORIN/GASTON Die tote Stadt Semperoper Dresden, ERNESTO Don Pasquale Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and the YOUNG KING in the world premiere of Tonguecat at the Münchner Opernfestspiele. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic his planned debut as 2nd JEW Salome at Teatro alla Scala was cancelled.
Michael took part in the Opera Theatre St. Louis’ Young Artist Program singing MOLE/JUROR Alice in Wonderland and covering FERRANDO Così fan tutte. Michael returned to the company to sing CHEVALIER DE LA FORCE Dialogues des Carmélites. He also took part in the Seagle Music Colony’s Young Artist Program, where roles included BENVOLIO Roméo et Juliette and FERRANDO. Michael studied at Indiana University.
