Michael Porter

American tenor Michael Porter is a member of the ensemble of Oper Frankfurt. In 25/26 he will be singing PONG Turandot, KEN in Vito Žuraj’s Blossoming, ENEA in Agostino Steffani’s Amore vien dal destino, and TEMPO in Handel’s The Triumph of time and truth. Since joining the ensemble in 2015 roles have included FERRANDO Cosí fan tutte, TAMINO Die Zauberflöte, DON OTTAVIO Don Giovanni, PEDRILLO Die Entführung aus dem Serail, ARBACE Idomeneo, STEUERMANN Der fliegende Holländer, ANDRES Wozzeck, LYSANDER A Midsummer Night’s Dream, NOVICE Billy Budd, BRIGHELLA Ariadne auf Naxos, EDMONDO Manon Lescaut, DAVID Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, HYLLUS Hercules and HELENUS/HYLAS Les Troyens.

Guest engagements have included LYSANDER Opéra de Lausanne, FROH Das Rheingold Staatsoper Stuttgart, 2nd JEW Salome Teatro alla Scala MONOSTATOS Die Zauberflöte Salzburger Festspiele, KNAPPE Parsifal Staatsoper Berlin, VICTORIN/GASTON Die tote Stadt Semperoper Dresden, ERNESTO Don Pasquale Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and the YOUNG KING in the world premiere of Tonguecat Münchner Opernfestspiele.

Michael took part in the Opera Theatre St. Louis’ Young Artist Program singing MOLE/JUROR Alice in Wonderland and covering FERRANDO Così fan tutte. Michael returned to the company to sing CHEVALIER DE LA FORCE Dialogues des Carmélites. He also took part in the Seagle Music Colony’s Young Artist Program, where roles included BENVOLIO Roméo et Juliette and FERRANDO. Michael studied at Indiana University.
