Moritz Kallenberg

German tenor Moritz Kallenberg has been a member of Staatsoper Stuttgart since 2019/20 where he sings roles such as EVANGELIST in a staged version of Johannespassion, LE LEPREUX St Francois d’Assise, FROH Das Rheingold, KNAPPE Parsifal, TSCHAPLITSKY Pique Dame and GRAF HOHENZOLLERN Der Prinz von Homburg. Most recent and future projects include HYLLUS Hercules Händelfestspiele Karlsruhe and THESPIS/MERCURE Platèe Semperoper Dresden.

Notable past appearances were BELFIORE La Finta Giardiniera with William Christie at Festival Les Jardins de Voix Thirè, Cité de la Musique Paris, Opéra Royal des Versailles, Theater an der Wien and Palau de les Arts Valencia, GRALSRITTER Parsifal Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg, ECCLITICO Il mondo della luna and TIERHÄNDLER Der Rosenkavalier (Sir Simon Rattle) Berliner Philharmoniker in Baden Baden, DON OTTAVIO Don Giovanni Franz Liszt Academy Budapest, 2. NAZARENER Salome Oper Leipzig, Der Vetter aus Dingsda (title role) Stadttheater Freiburg and various productions for Staatsoperette Dresden.

On the concert platform, Moritz Kallenberg’s repertoire ranges from Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert to lesser known works such as G. Philipp Telemann‘s Matthäus-Passion, the Brockes- Passion and Handel‘s Alexander-Fest. In 2017 he made his debuts both as EVANGELIST Matthäuspassion (Ruben Jais) in Milan and with Mozart’s Requiem at Konzerthaus Berlin.

Moritz Kallenberg was a member of the boys‘ choir Capella Vocalis in Reutlingen. He studied at Musikhochschule Freiburg with Reginaldo Pinheiro, and at Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence, and took master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Rene Jacobs, Margaret Honig and Claudio Desderi. In the 2017/18 season Moritz Kallenberg was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. He is the recipient of the Carl-Seemann prize and the Helene Rosenberg scholarship.
