After graduating from the Conservatorio Luca Marenzio in Brescia, he studied with Franco Corelli and Eugenio Fogliati, and made his stage début in 1997. Since then his international engagements have included the roles of RAIMONDO Lucia di Lammermoor Mantova, St Gallen and the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, SILVA Ernani Ravenna, Livorno and Teatro Massimo di Palermo, SPARAFUCILE Rigoletto Parma and Hong Kong, CIRILLO Fedora Teatro alla Scala di Milano, FERRANDO Il Trovatore Monte-Carlo and Lisbon, CONTE DI WALTER Luisa Miller Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, DON BARTOLO Le Nozze di Figaro St Gallen, Montpellier, Lille and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, as well as OROVESO Norma in Modena, Ferrara and Denmark.

Paolo Battaglia also appeared at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival and with Glyndebourne on Tour as COLLINE La Bohème, PISTOLA and SENECA L’Incoronazione di Poppea, at both Arena and Teatro Filarmonico in Verona for the roles of IL RE Aida, DON BASILIO Il Barbiere di Siviglia, TIMUR Turandot and PISTOLA. He sang PUBLIO La Clemenza di Tito and CARONTE in Monteverdi’s Orfeo with the Bayerische Rundfunk and COLLINE in St Gallen, Macerata, Teatro alla Scala and Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
