English soprano Susanna Fairbairn’s recent and forthcoming projects include BESS FOSTER Georgiana Buxton International Opera Festival, JULIETTE Die tote Stadt RTÈ Orchestra and her German operatic début at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Tischlerei as AGATHE in Malte Giesen’s new opera Wolfsschlucht.

Past operatic engagements include GALATEA Acis and Galatea Opera Theatre Company, COUTNESS Le nozze di Figaro Longborough Festival Opera, cover DONNA ANNA Don Giovanni Opera North, DONNA ANNA, BELINDA Dido and Aeneas, ELEONORA Il furioso all’isola di San Domingo, and JUNO La Calisto English Touring Opera, COUNT GONTRAN Une Education Manquee Holt Festival, Grimeborn Festival, CROBYLE Thaïs Chelsea Opera Group and MARGERY The Dragon of Wantley London Handel Festival.

Significant solo appearances have included concerts with the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig conducted by John Eliot Gardiner and Tavener’s epic Veil of the Temple in Canterbury Cathedral in the composer’s presence. Susanna has performed recitals at major venues including the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room, and her début solo CD, ‘Songs of Geoffrey Bush and Joseph Horovitz’, is available on Naxos.

Susanna won the Selma D and Leon Fishbach Prize at the 2014 London Handel Singing Competition. She is a former Park Lane Group Young Artist and performed Judith Weir’s King Harald’s Saga, Messiaen’s Poèmes pour Mi and works by Robert Saxton. She trained as a flautist and studied singing at the Wales International Academy of Voice.
