CrossCurrents Festival/Birmingham Contemporary Music Group

Lucy Schaufer will sing the solo role in two Judith Weir pieces, and in a world premiere of CrossCurrents by various high profile composers with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.

The concert, which takes place on 20th February at Elgar Concert Hall in Birmingham, features works by composers including Tansy Davies, Morton Feldman, Luciano Berio and Richard Baker (who will also conduct). Lucy will sing On Buying a Horse and Blackbirds and Thrushes by Weir, and in CrossCurrents which is by Judith Weir, Richard Baker, Charlotte Bray, Joe Cutler, Howard Skempton, Ed Bennett, Michael Zev Gordon, Scott Wilson, Daria Kwiatkowska, Federico Favali, Patrick Giguere.

Lucy Schaufer’s current and future engagements include SOLOIST Bernstein concert BBC Proms with the John Wilson Orchestra, ELF Adamo’s Becoming Santa Claus Dallas Opera, MADDY Heggie’s Three DecembersFlorentine Opera, ALDONZA Man of La Mancha Central City Opera and the leading role of DOCTOR Venables’4.48 Psychosis (world premiere) Royal Opera House, Covent Garden at the Lyric Hammersmith. Lucy’s first solo recording, CARPENTERSVILLE, co-produced with ABC Classics in Australia, was released in the spring of 2013, and was the Editor’s Choice in Classical Music Magazine in July 2013.
